Dear PNAA chapters and supporters,
The Philippine Nurses Association of America is activating the Kababayan Emergency Preparedness Fund Program (KEFP) to fulfill its original purpose to raise funds ahead of time so we are ready to assist our “kababayans” in times of calamities. In the recent past, we have raised funds when the disaster happened resulting in delays in helping the victims when they urgently needed our help.
The Philippines experience an average of 20 typhoons a year, with frequent landslides and floods blamed in part on the growing intensity of tropical cyclones. Most recently, tropical storm Nalgae (locally called Paeng) struck the Philippines & unleashed extreme rainfalls that spurred landslides and flooding, making it among the season’s deadliest and most destructive storms to hit the island nation.
The PNAA Community Outreach Committee would like to carry out the original purpose of the KEPF. Through the committee, PNAA supports the humanitarian mission of providing monetary donations to communities that are most impacted by the disasters.
To realize the Community Outreach Committee’s goal, we would like to appeal to your chapter & members and request for monetary donations so we can help our “kababayans” immediately when disasters happen. As calamities strike our native land, PNAA will be more ready to help by disbursing monetary donations to credible non-governmental organizations who are actively assisting needy communities.
As the Holiday season rings, let us show our Christmas spirit by sharing our blessings with the less fortunate back home.
Thank you.
Dr. Gloria L. Beriones, President
PNAA President
