Alice Andam recognized the numerous Medical Mission volunteers who come from all over the U.S. spending their own resources and offering their talents, all the members for their whole-hearted support and especially the supporters and donors who make the missions possible. The PNAMDC, Inc. is a 501(c)3 professional organization of Filipino-American Nurses in the Metropolitan Washington, DC which was founded in 1971, a chapter member of the Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA), upholding the positive image and welfare of its constituent members; promoting professional excellence and contributing to significant outcomes to healthcare and society.
The Gawad Geny Lopez Jr. Bayaning Pilipino Awards is sponsored by the ABS-CBN International in partnership with UGAT Foundation, Inc., an apostolate of volunteers for the welfare of the poor. The Bayaning Pilipino Award was first organized 15 years ago in recognition to Filipinos residing in the United States, who continue to remember their roots through selfless public service for their less fortunate countrymen. This year’s award was focused on corporations, organizations and institutions that have contributed significantly to the well being of the Filipino-American community in the United States or in the Philippines.
The awards ceremony honoring the five 2009 winners, that included The Philippine Nurses Association of Metropolitan, D.C., Inc. (PNAMDC, Inc.); The Council of United Filipino Organizations of Tidewater (CUFOT), Virginia Beach, VA. for their community involvement in cultural affairs; The Filipino American Basketball Association of Metropolitan, D.C., Inc. and The PBA Legends USA Foundation, Gig Harbor, WA for their community outreach services to youth through sports; and The National Alliance to Nurture the Aged and the Youth, Inc. (NANAY), North Miami, FL, for their supportive services to elders and youth, was held in the ABS-CBN studios in Redwood City, CA. and will be televised globally on ABS-CBN TFC (The Filipino Channel) at 9:40 p.m., EST on April 26, 2009.
